Sub Domain or Main Domain?

https://www.blog.koinx.com/ or https://www.koinx.com/blog

Google says that they treat content on subdomains the same as any other content and that it’s no harder to rank a subdomain than a subfolder. However, many SEOs disagree, and there have been many reported cases of traffic increases after moving content from a subdomain to a subfolder.

Pros of having Blog on Main Domain

  1. Google considers it as a single domain whereas if we host a blog on a sub domain google treats it as a separate domain. As a result one doesn’t need to create backlinks separately for both the domains.
  2. The backlinks pass through the home page to the blog page and then to the Individual posts through a well defined SILO/Pyramid structure.

Ex. https://koinly.io/blog/

https://coinswitch.co/blog/

SLUG aka URL

Avoid dates: This can cause issues if you ever update your content because Google may end up showing contradictory information in the search results.

Ex. If we write a article in 08/2022 and it gets ranked. Fast forward a year or two, if someone search for the said query he might go down to another article considering it’s not updated even though we have updated it a day back as the url is gonna stay the same.
